3 Reasons My Ideas Are Not Yours
You ever had a manager or supervisor steal your idea and use it as their own? We all have been there always wondering why the supervisor would do such a thing. The supervisor usually will tell you they will make sure that you get the recognition next time. Next time never comes, does it?
You present another idea just to not be recognized again. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different result.
- God has equipped each one of us with a brain to be able to think on our own. Moving forward we can not give our ideas to the supervisor because we will not get the recognition we deserve. We will not get the raise we deserve. We will not get to go home and tell our family that we got the promotion we been working so hard for.
When the supervisor is a Narcissists they do not care about your promotion or well-being. You have to protect yourself from the supervisor and God is where this starts. Knowing your enemy and how they operate is rule number one.
- 2. You cannot let the manager take all your ideas and play you for a fool. Start documenting everything you tell your manager/supervisor. Don’t tell your supervisor your best ideas when you know they will steal them.
Don’t spend your time at a job with a narcissist supervisor because it will be a complete waste of time. Your days will be long, and your nights/weekends will belong to the narcissists as well.
- 3. Your promotion, raise, morale, and self-respect will go down the tubes. The Stealing Manager will continue to steal from you and the rest of the team. Someone will have to step up and shed light on the situation. Narcissists only care about their own promotion and raise.
“Like tying a stone in a sling is the giving of honor to a fool” Proverbs 26:8.
Continue to worship God at work, pray when you can, and find someone you can talk to about the situation.
Never confront the narcissists by letting them know you are on to them. I say again document everything that is going on because you might need to use it later.
I said all this to say don’t be the fool in the working relationship between the narcissists and yourself. Stay focused on what needs to be done to keep your sanity. Your job is crucial to your survival, but it is not the only way to survive. Especially when dealing with a narcissist at work.
Don’t let narcissist continue to live off your ideas. If we have to work for our promotions, they have to as well. Think about it. Take a stand for yourself and get the recognition you deserve.
